The Warriors limped into the postseason, but were dominant in Game 1. Can they do it again?
The Golden State Warriors may have finished the regular season on a slump, but they looked in top form in their Game 1 win over the San Antonio Spurs in the first round of the 2018 NBA playoffs. Now the Warriors will try and go up by two, with another home-court matchup on Monday, beginning at 10:30 p.m. ET on TNT ET (live streaming via TNTDrama.com or the TNT App on various devices).
While the Warriors themselves have tried to embrace the idea of coming into the playoffs with lower expectations, thus allowing them to defy them, nobody really doubted their ability. They are still the most dynamic team in the NBA, and they looked the part in Game 1, while San Antonio simply couldn’t sink a basket.
Steph Curry continues to be out for the Warriors, who won’t have him at all during the series against the Spurs, regardless of its length. Kevin Durant stepped up in a big way in the first game, finishing with 24 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. The whole team was a lot more defensively sound than they were down the stretch in the regular season.
The Spurs, on the other hand, shot 40 percent from the field, hitting 32 of 80 buckets, while the Warriors put down 44 of 81 (54.3 percent). Golden State brought down 41 defensive rebounds to San Antonio’s 27. Spurs star LaMarcus Aldridge was held to just 14 points in the game.
The Warriors completed a four-game sweep of the Spurs in the Western Conference finals a season ago. They’re favored going into Monday’s game. Below, you can find all you need to know to watch the action.
