Self-styled godman Falahari baba, an accused in a rape case filed by a 21-year-old girl has been arrested by the Rajasthan police on Saturday soon after he was discharged from a hospital.
Earlier, when the investigating officer had reached to interrogate Sant Kaushlendra Falahari Maharaj at his Alwar Ashram, the godman got himself admitted in the hospital complaining of intestine infection.
Since then, policemen were stationed outside the hospital and waiting for the baba’s discharge.
The girl had lodged a zero FIR against the Falahari baba at Bilaspur police station in Chhattisgarh state from where she belongs to.
Initially, the girl and her family, who were following the baba since last 15 years, were reluctant to approach the police, but after the conviction and sentencing of Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, they decided to file a complaint against the Falahari baba.
The family then met the Chhattisgarh DGP on whose instructions the zero FIR was filed and the matter was forwarded to the Alwar police.
According to the FIR, the alleged crime had taken place on August 7 in Alwar, when the victim had visited the baba’s Ashram to offer the first salary she had earned from her internship.
Falahari baba had asked her to stay in the Ashram for the night. Then he asked the girl to come to his room, where he allegedly raped her.
After raping the girl, the Falahari baba also threatened her not to disclose anything as he had connections with top politicians and cops.
