Misbehaving with a baptised Sikh girl on board a PRTC bus spelt trouble for an ASI.
Posted with the government railway police as he was thrashed in full public view for commenting on the religious symbols worn by the girl and also making inappropriate advances towards her. The incident took place onboard the bus travelling from Sangrur to Patran, last evening. ASI Didar Singh started misbehaving with a Sikh girl. The cop, who was completely drunk, questioned the girl why she was wearing the Kirpal and claimed that they generally got these Kirpans and Kacaherras (worn by the baptised Sikhs) removed in police stations. He even held the girl’s hand and forced her to sit along with him on his seat.
However, this did not go down well with some of the passengers, who objected to the incongruous behaviour of the policeman. One of the passenger, Jaswinder Singh, got up from his seat and confronted the cop for commenting on the religious symbols of the Sikh and also misbehaving with the baptised girl. According to eye witnesses, on being questioned by Jaswinder, Didar Singh slapped him and the two got into a scuffle.
